MIL-STD-644A, MILITARY STANDARD: VISUAL INSPECTION STANDARDS AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES FOR INSPECTION OF PACKAGING, PACKING AND MARKING OF SMALL ARMS AMMUNITION (03 DEC 1962)., This standard prescribes proceduresfor the inspection of packaging, packingand marking of small arms ammunition.It specifies the extent of the inspection ofthe container contents, the containers themselvesand overpacks of such containers. Italso supplies classification of defects, acceptablequality levels and furnishes visual defectstandards when necessary. This standard is intendedto be used by the small arms ammunitionmanufacturer, by the Government for verificationinspection and by any government facilityengaged in the packaging and packingof small arms ammunition. It forms an integralpart of the applicable cartridge specificationand is to be used in conjunctionwith the packaging, packing and markingdrawings referenced therein.
