【摘要】:Thehotcompressionpropertiesofagasketmaterial,includingcreepresistanceandcompressionset,areamajorfactorwithregardtotheselectionofagivenmaterialforuseinaparticularsealingapplication.Thesignificanceofthetestmethodisbased,inpart;ontheassumptionthatifamaterialexhibitstoomuchcreepatelevatedtemperaturethatitwillnolongerfunctionaseffectivelyasaseal.Thisassumptioncanonlybeusedasaguide;however,sinceexactyieldorfailurepointsaredifficulttodefineforgasketmaterials(whichareusuallyviscoelasticinnature).Twoormorematerialscanbecomparedtodeterminedifferencesintheirhotcompressionproperties.Asampleofmaterialcanbecomparedtoanestablishedstandardorpreviouslydeterminedcharacteristicsonoriginallotsofthesamematerial,forqualityassurancepurposes.Samplesaretobetestedwitharaisedprofileinsertorcalibrationringdescribedin6.3andFig.1sothatthearea(2042mm2(3.17in.2))remainsconstantduringthetest.FIG.1TestAssemblyforDeterminingHotCompression1.1Thistestmethodcoversameansofmeasuringthehotcompressionpropertiesofagasketmaterialbymeasuringitscreepunderaconstantloadatbothroomtemperatureandwhileincreasingthetemperature.Shorttermcreeppropertiesincludingbothcoldandhotcreep,totalcreepandcompressionsetofagasketmaterialcanbedetermined.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
