【摘要】:Theacidstrength,asmeasuredbypHe,isagoodpredictorofthecorrosionpotentialofethanolfuels.Itispreferabletototalaciditybecausetotalaciditydoesnotmeasureacidstrength;overestimatesthecontributionofweakacids,suchascarbonicacid;andmayunderestimatethecorrosionpotentialoflowconcentrationsofstrongacids,suchassulfuricacid.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaproceduretodetermineameasureoftheacidstrengthofhighethanolcontentfuels.Theseincludeethanol,denaturedfuelethanol,andfuelethanol(Ed75-Ed85).Thetestmethodisapplicabletofuelscontainingnominally70volume%ethanol,orhigher,asdescribedinSpecificationsD4806andD5798.1.2AcidstrengthasmeasuredinthistestmethodisdefinedaspHe.ApHevalueforalcoholsolutionsisnotdirectlycomparabletopHvaluesofwatersolutions.1.3ThevalueofpHewilldependsomewhatonthefuelblend,thestirringrate,andthetimetheelectrodeisinthefuel.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
